March Monthly Meeting

Postby IslandGirlejfan's Miata » March 9th, 2010, 2:10 pm

Mark your calendars for Thursday 18 March at 7PM. We will be meeting this month at Italia's Corner Cafe 7089 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd., Suite F Glen Burnie, MD 21061. Many people from the group have been here, but if you have not, you can see the menu on this site http://www.italiascornercafe.com/ . They have a room in the back where we will be meeting. If you can look at the menu prior to coming and have an idea what you want, that will probably expedite things. Just find your way back to the room and we will order from there. Looking forward to seeing you there!

That's a bit of a haul for us guys in the West. Don't take this as a lack of appreciation for your hard work on this matter. I know you are doing the best you can. And, I have missed so many meetings that were closer, I can't really complain much. I'll try to get there. I typically don't get off work until 6PM and that is about an hour at least, even without rush hour. Laurel is about 45 minutes from work.

We typically move them around so that everyone is inconvenienced every now and then, but it becomes more convenient for others. Laurel seems to be a good midpoint for everyone, and has a decent place, so that's why there's been so many meetings held there. We used to bounce between Laurel and Columbia, but the restaurant list changed due to no fault of our own. We've even done them as far noth as White Marsh, but that was a good hike for the majority of folks, so it got canned.

I applaud adding some diversity to the location of the meetings; alas, for us, heading North on a weeknight involves (B) taking the B-W Parkway and sitting in traffic, (B) taking Rt 95 and sitting in traffic, (C) taking Route One and sitting in traffic, (D)...

I wonder if a path further east (Rt 3? Rt 97?) would fare better.

Why not take route 50 east (and sit in traffic), and then route 2 north (and sit in that traffic)? much better traffic

I like the idea. Glen Burnie is right down the street from me. Its about 65 miles for me to drive to laurel and back and when u already drive 80+ miles a day. Plus its a change in scenery. I know that union Jack just opened today so maybe april we should look at them.

So that's no better.

It always amazes me how few places there are to cross the Patuxent River, even though this far north it's just a stream. So, it's "go around' to the east or west, channelled into the same traffic flow as everyone else.

Stupid wildlife preserve...

I'm planning to be at this one wherever it is. In my world distance traveled is a secondary consideration to time available.

To Riva Rd, to West St, to 50, to 2?
But still stuck on 2.
97 would probably be a better bet.
Or give up & stop at Mike's on Riva.

I loved GBR until I had a deer strike there in 1992.

The various almost-Annapolis routes sound fine until I realize I could make better time almost-sitting-still on the BW Parkway.

Maybe USDA Farms to Powder Mill to 197 to Brock Bridge and pick up the Parkway at 32? Whew!

I am happy to hear that the meeting is farther north this month! This is much more convenient for us Baltimorons.

I'm very happy with the venues the Club has chosen and look forward to the upcoming one in Glen Burnie. Regarding Laurel, I think the Greene Turtle is also a great location. I knew little about that place before, and now go to the local one regularly, especially Thursdays for the $5 burger.
Ultimately, the Miata is the perfect car for everyone.

I would imagine that by 8:30, things would be starting to wrap up for dinner. But on nice nights (like tonight), we'll probably be lingering in the parking lot for another hour or so. :yep:

Come on out - we'd love to have you.

Man! I missed the meeting and the tech day! I've been so busy at work the last couple weeks that I just haven't even checked the forum until now! I could've used that tech day help as well considering last Sunday I installed the FM Full Intake System (Intake, Throttle Inlet Pipe, BOV, Manual Boost Controller, O2 Mod and a boost gauge) all by myself! Only took me 12 hours! A buddy was supposed to come and help me but bailed last minute! Oh well, at least I can be proud of doing all that and having it work properly with no CEL's!! BTW, for any Mazdaspeeds out there, get this intake system! It's amazing the transformation it performed on my car! I can't wait for the downpipe and exhaust. That sounds like something I may need to plan for the next tech day! I'm sure I could use some help with that! :)
